Lake Phoenix

Lake Phoenix is a beautiful lake tucked away in Rawlings, VA, located in Brunswick County.

Take I-95 south through Richmond. (Do not take the I-295 Bypass!)

In Petersburg, take exit 51 to I-85 south. Approximately 25 miles south you will take exit 39 to Rawlings, VA. You will see road signs for Davis Fuel Stop and Lake Phoenix Scuba Park. At the end of the ramp, continue right, passing Davis Fuel Stop and The Nottoway Motel/Restaurant. There is a Subway and Dunkin Donuts at the Davis Fuel Stop complex, as well as a quick mart for snacks, etc. Turn left onto Boydton-Plank Rd. Turn right onto Rawlings Rd. Turn right onto Quarry Lane. You’ll see the sign for Lake Phoenix Scuba Park here. Quarry Lane is a gravel road, dusty and full of potholes. Please observe the speed limit to reduce the dust and to save the suspension on your vehicle. Continue down Quarry Lane until you arrive at a large metal building and parking lot. You must park and go inside to register.

Arrival at the Lake and Information about the Lake Phoenix Forms

Again, go online to and complete the Lake Phoenix Liability Releases – it’s all on-line. Doing the waiver ahead of time will save you time and avoid the late fee. There is a new policy at the lake. If you do not fill out the waiver prior to your arrival, they will charge you $20.00. Less time doing paperwork = more time having fun diving! When you arrive ask for and sign the Blue Octopus roster (only sign for Friday). I will meet you at the Lake Phoenix shop.

If you are camping on-site, you will fill out the necessary camping forms at this time and pay Lake Phoenix directly. Check the Lake Phoenix web site for camping cost per person/per night. Camping fees are not covered by Blue Octopus Scuba.

There are several hotels within 30 minutes of Lake Phoenix.

If you are bringing non-divers with you as guests, they will need to fill out a Lake Phoenix Liability waiver in advance. The visitor fee is not covered by Blue Octopus Scuba. Yes, all waivers are required to be filled out prior to arrival. In addition, non-divers can take the O2 Provider class with you.  This is a non-diving class.  Please make arrangements with the Blue Octopus Staff.  They will give me a roster of who is taking the class.
